Before I used to think there wasn’t much difference between Nero and Roxio. Both are main stream software mainly used for burning and audio/visual editing. I pretty much use it for burning only.
In the beginning I used Nero, then I switched to Roxio because I felt the user interface seemed easier to use. But with the new versions out, Nero Multimedia Suite 10 and Roxio 201o, both versions are way too much.
For just the conventional CD/DVD burner, the newest burning suites are just way too much. Both suites are overly bloated with useless add-ons. After experimenting with both, I found my computer’s resources being eaten up from the very moment my computer boots up. Eventually I uninstalled both suites and installed a much older version of Nero and when I rebooted, my computer booted up more than 30 seconds faster.
Between Nero and Roxio, I think Nero has been a much better choice. It’s really not that much harder to use. Currently I am using Nero 8 with only the Burning Rom and Smart Start installed. After using it for a few days, I actually think I could have just installed the Burning Rom, the Smart Start was unnecessary.

Today I installed a new plugin onto my WordPress. This makes it the 7th plugin that I have added. This new plugin is called, “Simple Facebook Share Button” and as you have probably already noticed, it has added a “Facebook Share” link to every post I’ve made. Now you can share my posts on your Facebook as well if you find something interesting enough to do so.

I just found out that my current 5+ year old system cannot support Adobe Creative Suite 5 Master Collection nor can it really support Quickbooks 2010 Premier. I guess I’m sticking with Creative Suite 2. Not too worried about Quickbooks since I seem to like Peachtree more now anyways.
I want a new computer now. A laptop, not a desktop.

Just as the title says, here’s my list of programs and software that I will always install after reformatting my computer.
- Windows XP Professional + hardware drivers *Note: XP > 7 > Vista
- Kaspersky Internet Security 2010
- Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome *Note: Both of these are much better than IE
- Microsoft Office 2003 Professional *Note: 2003, just cause 2007 sucks
- Adobe Creative Suite 2 *Note: I have CS5 now, but I haven’t gotten around to testing it out yet
- 7-Zip *Note: Does everything WinZip and WinRAR does, but much better, and for FREE
- Disk Checkup and HDD Health *Note: Monitors hard drive health
- FileZilla
- Notepad++
- Startup Delayer
- ReNamer
- RocketDock
- TrueCrypt
- Powertoys for Windows XP: Tweak UI
- CCCP
- Exact Audio Copy
- Roxio 2010
- Winamp
- uTorrent
- PeerBlock
- AIM
- Windows Live Messenger
- Daemon Tools Lite
- Secunia PSI
- FoxIt PDF Editor
It’s quite the list, but every single item has it’s purpose. These programs and software have proven their usefulness and have earned them a spot on this list. I’m sure not everything listed here is needed by everyone, but if you’re a bit like me, you’ll probably find many of these programs useful if they aren’t already installed on your computer.

Currently, I only use 6 plugins for my WordPress.
- Contact Form 7 – simple to use contact form.
- Google Analytics for WordPress – uses Google to keep track of the traffic.
- Google XML Sitemaps – makes my site searchable on search engines.
- Wordbook – connects my WordPress to my Facebook. It posts a link to my Facebook every time I make a post here.
- WordPress Database Backup – easy to use backup plugin for my site.
- WP-Spamfree – easy to use spam blocker without the need for CAPTCHA.
Not sure if I need anything else. I’ll probably add more plugins in the future just for the sake of adding more, but only if they work well.
