Nero vs Roxio

Before I used to think there wasn’t much difference between Nero and Roxio. Both are main stream software mainly used for burning and audio/visual editing. I pretty much use it for burning only.

In the beginning I used Nero, then I switched to Roxio because I felt the user interface seemed easier to use. But with the new versions out, Nero Multimedia Suite 10 and Roxio 201o, both versions are way too much.

For just the conventional CD/DVD burner, the newest burning suites are just way too much. Both suites are overly bloated with useless add-ons. After experimenting with both, I found my computer’s resources being eaten up from the very moment my computer boots up. Eventually I uninstalled both suites and installed a much older version of Nero and when I rebooted, my computer booted up more than 30 seconds faster.

Between Nero and Roxio, I think Nero has been a much better choice. It’s really not that much harder to use. Currently I am using Nero 8 with only the Burning Rom and Smart Start installed. After using it for a few days, I actually think I could have just installed the Burning Rom, the Smart Start was unnecessary.
